Does completing DUI school replace the FR44 filing requirement in Florida?
No. DUI school and FR44 are separate requirements. Completing DUI school is often a prerequisite for license reinstatement, but it does not eliminate the FR44 filing requirement. You typically need both — DUI school completion AND continuous FR44 coverage — to satisfy Florida's reinstatement conditions.
Florida's DUI Reinstatement Checklist
After a Florida DUI, the state typically requires all of the following before reinstating your license:
- FR44 insurance on file with the DHSMV
- DUI school completion (Level I or Level II depending on the offense)
- Suspension/revocation period served
- Reinstatement fees paid to the DHSMV
- Ignition interlock (if ordered by the court)
Each requirement must be satisfied independently. Completing one does not waive any of the others.
